A SATA SSD is the drive for a machine without an M.2 slot, a NAS that takes 2.5-inch SSDs for cache or a pool, and a boot drive in an older system. Where a machine has an NVMe slot, our consumer SSD page is usually the better place to look.

QLC and DRAM-less
Cheaper SATA SSDs often use QLC flash or no DRAM cache. Both are legitimate designs that trade sustained performance for price; we print what the title states and nothing more, and we make no speed claim of our own.
