The scoring system starts with live prices from the existing DatacenterDisk feeds, then compares each listing against its own tracked history and against comparable products in the same class. A refurbished enterprise hard drive is not compared as if it were new, and a consumer NVMe drive is not treated as equivalent to an enterprise U.2 SSD.
For hard drives, cost per terabyte carries heavy weight because capacity economics are usually the buying decision.
