Hard Drive Prices by Brand

Use this dashboard to compare Seagate, Western Digital, HGST, Toshiba, MDD, Synology, and other brands only where live inventory exists.

The page does not declare one brand universally cheaper or better. Product family, condition, warranty, and capacity mix can shift the brand-level result.

Brand pricing depends on mix

A brand with many used enterprise listings may appear cheaper than a brand dominated by new NAS models. That does not necessarily mean one brand is better value for every buyer.

Compare the brand dashboard with the product rows underneath so capacity, condition, and use case stay visible.

Seagate vs WD vs Toshiba pricing

The familiar brand comparison is only meaningful when the same deployment need is being compared. Exos, IronWolf, BarraCuda, Ultrastar, WD Red, WD Gold, and Toshiba MG/N300 serve different buying intents.

The summary table therefore uses current inventory and median $/TB rather than a static brand ranking.

How to use brand pages

Brand pages remain useful once you want to inspect specific families and model lines. This page is the cross-brand dashboard that helps decide where to look next.

If a brand has zero current HDD inventory, it is not included in the live brand summary.

FAQs

Which hard drive brand is cheapest?

It changes with live stock, condition mix, and capacity mix. The summary table shows current median $/TB and best $/TB only for brands with live listings.

Does cheaper brand-level pricing mean lower quality?

No. Brand-level price is not a quality score. It reflects the current mix of capacities, conditions, and model families available in the database.

Methodology

DatacenterDisk includes current in-stock HDD listings with valid positive prices, valid positive capacity, and price-per-TB data. Unavailable listings and broken zero-dollar prices are excluded from current rankings.

Good Price is calculated once in the shared pricing utility from current in-stock listings and stored DatacenterDisk price records. When the stored data is too thin for a confident verdict, the row shows Unavailable instead of inventing a bargain.
