HPE's rail system for this generation is built around tool-less installation into square-hole racks: the rail ends have clips that engage the square holes and lock, with no screws in the normal case. When the rack matches, it is genuinely quick.
When the rack does not match, it does not work at all. Threaded racks and round-hole racks need a different mounting arrangement, and the tool-less clips have nothing to engage. This is the most common reason a correctly identified Gen10 kit arrives and cannot be fitted, and it is a property of your rack rather than of the server.
Second-hand listings in this category are frequently vague about which variant they hold, and the photographs are often stock. A part number resolves it; a description generally does not. Where a listing states one we render it in the table, and where it does not the row is badged as a seller claim about fit.
Rail kits arrive incomplete more often than most server parts, because they are the component most likely to have been separated from the machine during a decommission. A rack of servers pulled for disposal frequently leaves its rails behind in the rack, and the rails that do make it to a reseller are often one of a pair or missing their chassis-side members.
The parts to confirm before buying: both outer rail members, both inner members - the pieces that bolt to or clip onto the chassis itself - and any mounting screws where the variant needs them. A pair of outer rails with no inner members is a common listing and is useless on its own, because the inner members are what the server actually attaches to.
The other frequent omission is the shipping bracket or the front bezel screws, neither of which matters for function. It is worth separating those from the things that do, because a listing described as incomplete may be missing something irrelevant.

Static rails hold the machine in place; to work on it you undo it and lift it out, which for a 2U server full of drives is a two-person job. Sliding rails let it roll forward on bearings while still connected, so the lid comes off in place.
For a machine that gets opened - drives swapped, cards added, memory changed - sliding rails are worth the difference and it is not close. For a machine that gets racked once and left, static rails are cheaper, shallower and lighter, and they do not have bearings to seize.
The cable management arm is the accessory sold alongside sliding rails, and it is the one most homelab buyers can skip. Its job is to route cables in a bundle that folds as the server slides, so the machine can be pulled out without unplugging anything. In a datacentre with a dozen cables per machine that is genuinely useful. With a power lead and one network cable, it is a large plastic object that obstructs airflow at the back of the rack.
