Dell's rail system for this era is branded ReadyRails and comes in variants that are not interchangeable. The distinction that matters most is between the static and sliding versions, and the second is what kind of rack post the rails were made for.
Square-hole racks, round-hole racks and threaded racks all exist, and a rail kit designed for tool-less mounting into square holes does not simply screw into a threaded rack. Some kits are convertible with an adapter, some are not, and this is the single most common reason a correctly identified kit still does not fit.
Second-hand listings compound this by describing rails generically. A kit sold as fitting an R730 might be either variant, and the photographs are frequently stock images. Where a listing states a part number we render it, because a part number resolves the question and a description does not.

Rails are adjustable within a range and the range has ends. A kit specified for a rack depth of roughly 610 to 900mm will not mount in a 500mm-deep cabinet however carefully you measure the server.
This is the constraint that stops homelab buyers putting an enterprise 2U machine into a shallow wall-mount rack, and it is not solved by buying different rails - short-depth rail kits exist but the chassis itself is what it is, and a 2U PowerEdge is around 750mm long before you attach anything to the back of it.
Measure front post to rear post in your own rack, then compare against the rail kit's stated adjustment range. If the listing does not state a range, that is a question for the seller rather than an assumption to make.
The other measurement people forget is what is behind the rack. A server on sliding rails needs the depth of the machine plus its travel, and if the rack is against a wall the machine cannot come forward far enough to open.
Two kinds of rail, and the difference is whether the server can come out of the rack without being unbolted. Static rails hold the machine in place; to work on it you undo it and lift it out, which for a 2U server full of drives is a two-person job. Sliding rails let it roll forward on bearings while still connected, so the lid comes off in place.
For a machine that gets opened - drives swapped, cards added, memory changed - sliding rails are worth the difference and it is not close. For a machine that gets racked once and left, static rails are cheaper, shallower and lighter, and they do not have bearings to seize.
The cable management arm is the accessory sold alongside sliding rails, and it is the one most homelab buyers can skip. Its job is to route cables in a bundle that folds as the server slides, so the machine can be pulled out without unplugging anything. In a datacentre with a dozen cables per machine that is genuinely useful. With a power lead and one network cable, it is a large plastic object that obstructs airflow at the back of the rack.
