IronWolf Pro 30TB and 32TB are the two top Seagate NAS capacities in this generation. They share the same core support story: CMR, SATA, 7200 RPM, 512MB cache, 550TB/year workload rating and a five-year warranty.
The 32TB model adds 2TB per bay and carries the highest-density NAS positioning. Whether it is worth buying depends on live price and how expensive a bay is in your chassis.
Buy the 32TB ST32000NT000 when the live $/TB is close to the 30TB ST30000NT011 or when bay scarcity dominates. Buy 30TB when it is clearly cheaper per usable TB. There is no major workload-rating split here; this is a density and economics choice.

The 32TB model adds the same 2TB per bay over 30TB that 30TB adds over 28TB, but buyers treat the top step differently because it can avoid an expansion shelf. In 12 bays, the raw delta is 24TB and the dual-parity usable delta is about 20TB before overhead.
If that capacity keeps a production NAS inside its current chassis for another year, the premium can be rational. If it only creates idle headroom, the premium is harder to defend.
Both models are CMR, SATA 6Gb/s, 7200 RPM and 512MB-cache drives with the same published workload and warranty terms. Seagate lists a higher maximum sustained transfer rate for 32TB, but this should not be turned into a benchmark claim.
The operational risk is similar: high-capacity rebuilds, large backup sets, cooling in full drive cages and vendor compatibility with exact part numbers.
32TB is worth it when the drive premium is lower than the cost of buying more bays. In a rack NAS or a proprietary expansion ecosystem, the bay can be the expensive item. In a DIY chassis with spare slots, the bay can be cheap.
