SSD endurance calculator: the TBW and DWPD your workload needs
Required TBW is your measured writes per day times 365 times the years you want the drive to last; required DWPD is writes per day divided by the drive’s capacity. Measure writes from the drive’s own Data Units Written counter over several days rather than guessing, then buy a drive whose stated rating covers the figure.
Calculator and live catalogue filter · prices Amazon US, re-checked about once a day · drive data last refreshed
Derive writes per day from the drive’s own counter
Run nvme smart-log /dev/nvme0 twice, some days apart, and copy the Data Units Written value each time (the label is spelled with spaces on nvme-cli 2.x, with underscores on older builds). One unit is 512,000 bytes. On a SATA drive use smartctl -A Total_LBAs_Written, whose unit is vendor-defined, so check your drive’s data sheet before converting.
44 of 118 active SSD listings in our catalogue carry a maker-stated TBW or DWPD; only those can be compared and only in-stock ones are listed. A listing that states neither is not low-endurance, it is unverified, and it is not shown here. Each row is judged on its stated TBW where there is one, otherwise on its stated DWPD at that row’s own capacity (a DWPD is defined over the maker’s rated lifetime, which we do not store).

Reading the result
A maker’s DWPD is defined over its rated lifetime, usually the warranty period, and two drives of the same capacity and DWPD can state different TBW figures because that lifetime differs. The table judges each row on the figure the maker states: TBW against your required TBW where one is stated, otherwise DWPD against the DWPD your writes imply at that row’s own capacity. Power-loss protection, which matters for synchronous-write workloads, is not a stored field and is not judged here; check the maker’s data sheet.
