Solidigm D7-PS1030 Enterprise SSD
Solidigm D7-PS1030 is the higher-write member of Solidigm's current PCIe Gen5 D7 pair. Its 3 DWPD endurance and capacities from 1.6TB to 12.8TB target mixed-use databases, logging, caching and other write-active services.
PS1030 is not automatically the better purchase. The additional endurance matters only when the workload will use it.

Why PS1030 exists
PS1030 uses lower usable capacities than PS1010 at each broad tier because more flash resources support write endurance and sustained mixed-use behavior. That trade can be valuable when the alternative is early wear or performance collapse under steady writes.
Databases, transaction logs, metadata services and cache layers can produce small random writes and internal amplification. Evaluate latency consistency and total writes, not only peak sequential throughput.
AI infrastructure and KV-cache use
High-write AI storage can include checkpoint staging, feature stores, vector-index updates, spill space and persistent KV-cache tiers. PS1030 can fit when those services need Gen5 performance and 3 DWPD, but the recommendation depends on measured write rate and latency requirements.
A read-mostly model repository or training corpus usually benefits more from capacity SSDs such as P5336. Separate dense data storage from high-churn working storage when that improves cost and endurance.
Procurement and installation
Confirm U.2 or E3.S mechanics, Gen5 lane topology, hot-plug support, power and cooling. Validate firmware with the server or storage vendor, particularly when drives are placed behind a PCIe switch or composed storage layer.
Price per TB alone understates the value of endurance. Compare acquisition cost with required writes over the planned service life; a cheaper 1 DWPD drive is not cheaper if it cannot meet the write budget.
Frequently asked questions
What is PS1030 DWPD?
Solidigm rates D7-PS1030 at 3 DWPD over five years.
Is PS1030 suitable for AI workloads?
It can suit high-write AI infrastructure such as checkpoint staging, vector-index updates or persistent cache tiers when capacity, endurance and latency requirements align. It is not a generic answer for every AI workload.
What is the largest PS1030 capacity?
The published family reaches 12.8TB.
