The NAS-versus-enterprise distinction is the whole page. A Synology, QNAP, Asustor or TerraMaster buyer usually values a drive that appears in NAS compatibility lists and exposes NAS health integrations. A storage-shelf buyer usually values exact interface, sector format, firmware qualification and cost per TB.
The two drives can both be rational. The mistake is calling one universally better because it is cheaper or because it carries the NAS label.
At 32TB, rebuild planning matters more than the line name. Both drives can spend a long time under full-surface load during reconstruction. Use dual parity for large arrays and avoid mixing drive generations unless you understand how the array will constrain usable capacity.
For TrueNAS and ZFS, the good news is that the drives compared here are conventional-recording choices, unlike WD HC690 UltraSMR. The harder question is hardware support and firmware qualification.
If the array is a NAS appliance and the exact IronWolf Pro model is qualified, IronWolf Pro is the clean answer. If the array is a server, JBOD shelf or object-storage node and Exos is qualified, Exos often has the stronger procurement case.
