Every deals page elsewhere on this site splits new from refurbished and scores each track separately, because mixing them manufactures a permanent false bargain on the refurbished side. This page does not, and the reason is worth stating plainly rather than leaving as an absence.

Every network listing that clears our brand and single-unit gates is new stock. A condition column reading "New" on every row would imply we had searched the used market and found it empty, which is not what happened. What happened is that we price what Amazon retails, and the used pool is somewhere else.
So if you have read that these cards sell for very little and our lowest figure is higher than you expected, that gap is a marketplace difference rather than a disagreement about the market. The cheapest new listings for the older cards are already priced against that used supply, which is why an end-of-life enterprise card can cost less than a mid-range cable here.
Each listing is scored against the median of its own category - cards against cards, cables against cables, modules against modules - rather than against the whole cluster. Storage prices on this site move because the underlying market moves - manufacturing capacity, demand from datacentres, the occasional supply shock. Network hardware prices move for a different reason, and it changes how you should read this page.
The parts here are mostly mature products whose design costs were recovered years ago, and several of them are generations behind what is currently shipping into datacentres. Their retail prices are anchored less to production cost than to what the secondary supply of retired enterprise equipment makes them worth. That supply is large and it is not especially responsive to demand from home builders, so prices tend to drift slowly rather than swing.
The consequence is that waiting for a sale is usually a poor strategy in this category. A card that is cheap today will most likely be similarly cheap next month, and a listing that is unusually expensive is more often a thin-supply artefact than a temporary spike that will correct. That is the opposite of the advice we give on lines where a genuine market is moving underneath the prices.
What does change, and quickly, is availability. A specific cable length or a specific card can simply stop being listed, and in a category this thinly stocked one seller leaving takes a row with them. If you have found the exact part you need at a sensible price, the risk you are managing is that it disappears rather than that it gets more expensive.
For cards, the widest reliable saving in this category is not a sale - it is the gap between a first-party card and a third-party board built on the same silicon. Across every model where we stock both, the third-party board is cheaper, often substantially. Whether that board carries the chipset its listing names is the seller's assertion, which we badge wherever it appears, and it is the trade at the centre of buying network cards cheaply.
For cables, the price differences between adjacent lengths are small and the price of buying the wrong length is a whole second cable. Buying slightly long is usually the better economics even when it is not the cheapest row.
For modules, the type decides the price far more than the brand does, and comparing across types is meaningless - a short-range optic and a copper module are not alternatives to each other for any given job. Our transceivers page separates them by type for exactly this reason.
And the cheapest genuinely useful thing on this page is often not a component at all: for two machines close together, a direct-attach cable replaces two modules and removes a compatibility question, which is a saving that does not show up as a discount on any row.
