Veeam, Commvault, and Nakivo backup repositories benefit from 12-24TB nearline HDDs in RAID-6. Write endurance is rarely a concern since backup workloads are sequential and periodic.
For appropriate use cases yes. Refurbished enterprise drives from MDD and similar resellers source from decommissioned hyperscale environments and carry 3-5 year reseller warranties. SMART-verify on arrival and deploy in RAID 6 with monitoring. Not recommended for single-drive configurations without redundancy.
