Lenovo's current ThinkSystem 24TB server HDD paths are the SAS option 4XB7A93007 and the SATA option 4XB7A93008. They are server options, not DE Series array drives.
Use this page as the decision hub, then move to the exact part page once you know which interface your server and controller require.
Choose 4XB7A93007 for SAS-qualified ThinkSystem deployments and 4XB7A93008 for SATA-qualified nearline capacity. Do not choose based on 24TB capacity alone; platform qualification is the purchase decision.
Verify the part number, carrier, firmware, sector format and server or storage-array qualification before ordering. A bare mechanism or third-party compatible listing can be useful, but it is an alternative unless it is sold as the qualified OEM kit or spare you need.
The interface headline is only one line item. Qualification, carrier, controller and firmware path decide whether the drive is actually buyable for your system.

Workload rating is recorded per part number from the manufacturer's published data for that exact model where available, not blanketed across the line — two drives of the same capacity can differ because they are different generations. A dash means the figure is not stated for that listing. Recording technology comes from the manufacturer's published CMR/SMR list; a model absent from that list is shown as UNVERIFIED rather than guessed. Rows priced above 3× this line's in-stock median are flagged and excluded from the winner callout and from every median we compute.
This table is computed from live DatacenterDisk rows when an exact in-stock match exists. It is intentionally blank for unavailable models rather than filled with stale prices.

These are procurement paths to evaluate when exact stock is absent. Alternatives still require the exact platform, controller, sector format, carrier and support policy to approve them.
| Alternative | When it can work | Procurement warning |
|---|---|---|
| 4XB7A93007 | Use when the ThinkSystem server and controller path require the 24TB SAS option. | Not interchangeable with DE Series options. |
| 4XB7A93008 | Use when the ThinkSystem server qualifies the 24TB SATA option and the workload is capacity-first. | Not a SAS or DE Series substitute. |
| Other ServerProven ThinkSystem HDD option | Possible when the exact server lists it and capacity requirements allow it. | Check bay, carrier, sector format and controller support. |
| Generic high-capacity HDD | Only under an approved non-Lenovo support policy. | No Lenovo option identity or support path by default. |
Use this table before accepting a quote, especially when new, open-box, refurbished and bare-drive listings appear side by side.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Exact option | Lenovo ThinkSystem 24TB family must appear on the quote or listing when you need the exact OEM option. |
| Carrier | ThinkSystem server carrier option |
| Firmware path | OEM-qualified firmware can decide update eligibility, health reporting and support handling. |
| Sector format | 512e must match the controller, array and existing drive group. |
| Condition | New, open-box, refurbished and used units should be compared as different offers, not as the same price point. |
| Support | Handled through Lenovo option/server support terms |
Raw decimal capacity is shown before filesystem formatting, RAID, hot spares, snapshots or vendor overhead.
| Drive count | Raw capacity | Single-parity example | Dual-parity example |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 drives | 96TB raw | 72TB before formatting | 48TB before formatting |
| 8 drives | 192TB raw | 168TB before formatting | 144TB before formatting |
| 12 drives | 288TB raw | 264TB before formatting | 240TB before formatting |
If you are replacing a failed drive, match the failed drive's Lenovo option, interface and sector format first. If you are expanding capacity, match the server option matrix and controller path first, then compare live price and condition.
Lenovo ServerProven and current product guides list selected V3/V4 ThinkSystem support. Existing DatacenterDisk Lenovo server content should be used for server ecosystem context, but exact drive qualification still belongs to Lenovo's option matrix.
The DE Series 24TB options use array qualification, different option numbers and DE shelf firmware/support paths. They are not ThinkSystem server HDDs merely because they are Lenovo, 24TB and 3.5-inch.
The verified ThinkSystem server options are 4XB7A93007 for SAS 12Gb and 4XB7A93008 for SATA 6Gb.
Neither is universally better. SAS is justified by controller architecture and redundancy requirements. SATA is often enough for qualified nearline capacity.
Do not assume so. DE Series drives are array-qualified options with different part numbers and support paths.
