Cheap Enterprise Hard Drives: The Cheapest by Outlay and by £/TB, New and Used
Prices checked: · Published: · Price tracking since 5 November 2026
Quick answer
Cheap means two things here. The lowest total price among new enterprise drives on Amazon.co.uk is £161.72, and the lowest £/TB is £23.04/TB. Used rows start at £69.82. The lowest total can belong to a small drive, so compare capacity, interface and condition before buying.
Cheapest enterprise hard drives, new: lowest price first
Cheap can mean the smallest bill or the cheapest terabyte, and the two can point at different drives, so this page shows both. The lowest total among new 3.5-inch enterprise listings on Amazon.co.uk is £161.72. The lowest £/TB in the same field is £23.04/TB, on Seagate Exos 26TB Internal Hard Drive, which costs £599.00 in total.
The table is sorted by total price and shows 12 of 87 in-stock new matches, with capacity and £/TB in each row. The lowest £/TB drive may sit outside those rows, because a low total and a low £/TB are different sorts. For the ranking by terabyte, use the price per TB tracker.

One filter needs explaining. We leave out Seagate's enterprise performance line, Cheetah and Savvio 10K and 15K drives of a few hundred GB, because their low-capacity listings could otherwise lead a price sort and tell you little about cheap storage. A listing with no recorded form factor falls outside the table.
Cheap used enterprise hard drives, kept in their own table
Used rows never mix with new ones here, because a low used price is not the same offer as a low new one. Used listings start at £69.82 in total and £20.49/TB, across 49 in-stock matches. As with the new table, those two figures can come from different drives. The used table can include recertified rows.

| Maker's warranty | Only where a maker document says so, for example Toshiba's 5-year limited warranty on the MG Series | The Toshiba statement does not mention used listings, so do not assume it carries over. A warranty on a used listing needs checking: ask who honours it and for how long |
| Consumer Rights Act 2015 | Applies to a consumer buying from a trader | The same Act applies, and any description and, if relevant, the price bear on what counts as satisfactory |
Refurbished listings raise questions of their own, and refurbished enterprise hard drives takes them up separately.
What you give up on small or old enterprise drives
A price sort favours small capacities. That saves money today, and it costs you in ways the price column cannot show:
- Bays and ports. Ten 2 TB drives need ten bays to hold what one 20 TB drive holds, and each one needs a controller port and a slot in the array.
- Cost per terabyte. A low total can hide a high £/TB, so read that column in each row before you treat a drive as a bargain.
- Paperwork. The maker statements we read cover named lines such as the Toshiba MG Series and the Exos X24. For a small or old part number we may hold no document, in which case this page states no workload, warranty or reliability figure.
- Warranty certainty. Seagate's UK support page labels some Exos X24 models with a 5-year limited warranty, and the label is not on every model. So even within one line, confirm the exact model rather than the family.
- A used drive's past. Our tables show no power-on hours or age for a used row, so ask the seller before you buy.
We hold no evidence that small or old enterprise drives as a group fail more or less often, so we claim neither. The point is narrower: you know less about them, and you need more of them to reach a given capacity.
Is a cheap enterprise drive less reliable? Price cannot tell you
Failure data and price answer separate questions. In Backblaze's Q2 2026 table, HUH721212ALN604 (12TB), which Backblaze treats as an outlier, nearly seven years old, logged a 7.63% annualised failure rate on 861,297 drive days and 180 failures, while WUH722222ALE6L4 (22TB) logged 0.55% on 4,146,339 drive days and 63 failures. Neither figure comes with a price, and both describe Backblaze's fleet rather than a listing here. A low £/TB is not evidence either way.
A cheap SAS drive is only cheap with a SAS controller
Seagate states that SAS drives cannot be plugged into SATA controllers, while SATA drives may be plugged into SAS controllers. So a SAS row at the top of either table saves nothing if your system has only SATA ports, and buying a controller to suit adds to the real cost. The interface column shows which is which where it is on record, and where it is not, confirm with the listing. SAS versus SATA and SATA enterprise hard drives pick up the interface question.
Where to buy cheap hard drives: what we can tell you
We price one merchant, Amazon.co.uk, so the drives here are the cheapest we can see there, not the cheapest in general. Every price is pounds sterling inc VAT. Where to buy enterprise hard drives looks at that question more widely.
A low price does not remove your rights, but it does shape them. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods from a trader must be of satisfactory quality, meaning the standard a reasonable person would consider satisfactory, taking account of any description and, if relevant, the price. So a heavily discounted used drive is judged against its price and its description.
The short-term right to reject runs to the end of 30 days. Those rights belong to consumers: an individual acting for purposes wholly or mainly within their trade, business, craft or profession falls outside the definition, so a firm buying cheap drives should take its own advice. A limited warranty from the maker is a different thing again.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest enterprise hard drive right now?
By total price among new listings, £161.72. That listing is the first row of the new table. By £/TB, Seagate Exos 26TB Internal Hard Drive at £23.04/TB. The used side has its own low of £20.49/TB.
Should I buy the lowest total price or the lowest £/TB?
Work from the capacity you need. If one small drive covers it, the lowest total may be right. If you are filling bays, multiply £/TB by the terabytes required and set that against the price of one larger drive.
Does a used enterprise drive come with the maker's warranty?
The Toshiba statement does not mention used listings, so do not assume it carries over. The used table can include recertified rows, and a warranty on a used listing needs checking: ask who honours it and for how long.
